Thank goodness I took a chance on this book, as it's not only one of the best I've read in a long while, I'd never read anything by this author. So many months of complete misses for me, and then this jewel somehow happened. Loved the writing style, the story, the characters...just everything. Highly impressed with this author, so much so, I've just picked up my second book. Ahhh, to read a good book again.

Yes sir and Rebecca meet on the shore of a lake, renting houses for the summer, trying to figure out the dysfunctions of their lives. Two different lifestyles, yet because of their secrets, they head for disaster. Can their marriages and lives be salvaged? A well written book that pulls you into the story of this summer that changes all their lives forever.
Reading this book was like watching a great movie. I couldn't put it down. After reading some of the negative reviews, I take issue with some of the comments about how unrealistic some aspects are. It's a novel, not an autobiography. I felt like it had great depth and made me think about how people react to each other. Bravo to the author. Can't wait to read another book by Hewitt.
I was going to give this 3 stars about half way through the book because it wasn't moving fast enough for me. I felt the same story line in each charter, never going very far, until the last few chapters where things come more into focus, and the story takes on its conclusion. Different outcome than I thought, but good. It gets 4 stars
While I found a few moments slightly scattered; it was a beautiful story and showed how difficult being a woman/Mom/wife/friend truly is. I WILL check out her other titles; I loved her writing style and found her (mostly) easy to follow. I think my slight struggle came from each chapter being a different narrator (only 2 but I would forget whose voice I was listening to)
This was a story that kept me reading, sometimes faster just to find out what was happening. The characters had serious flaws but were so human that you could feel their pain. I will think about this book for awhile.
I am so glad that I read this book. I was not disappointed! It is definitely a tear-jerker so get some tissues before you sit an read this book. Everything I thought was gonna happen turned so fast that I didn’t even have time to think of another scenario that the author might be leading me into. So everything I thought was gonna happen did. It was actually he opposite. When I first started this book I never would have guessed the ending would have ben that devastating. I really like the story line an it was an easy book to read. I fell in love with the characters an disliking them at the same time.
Reading this book an taking the chance on it was a good move an it opened up a new door to a author I’ve never heard of or read anything by. Since I liked this book so much I’m gonna be checking some of her other titles out!
Why do couples drift apart? A lot of reasons, but I believe the underlying cause is self-preservation... I read somewhere that “if your spouse is generally likeable and you want to improve your marriage, the innate desire for self-preservation must be diminished.” Often we hear the phrase, “what he doesn’t know won’t hurt”.....but who are we really hurting? Secrets have a way of pushing up to the surface, and the longer the communication is delayed, the hurt factor increases.

The story was alternately told from the points of view of two women who fatefully met one summer (Tessa and Rebecca). Both were carrying burdens when they went to their lakeside vacation with their children....If only they’ve unburdened themselves and let their husbands know...

Well written, very emotional, this will cut through every woman’s heart.
